How do I measure for VENOSAN compression stockings?
Measure your ankle circumference at the narrowest point, your calf at the widest point, and your leg length from the floor to the bend of your knee (for knee-high) or to your groin (for thigh-high). Measure first thing in the morning before any swelling occurs. Our size chart on each product page will match your measurements to the correct size. If you're between sizes, contact our fitting specialists for guidance.
Can I claim compression stockings on my health insurance?
Yes! Most Australian private health funds cover medical-grade compression stockings under their Extras/Ancillary benefits. You'll need a prescription or letter from your GP, vascular surgeon, or physiotherapist. We provide tax invoices with all orders that are suitable for health fund claims. What compression class do I need?
Class 1 (15-21mmHg): Tired, heavy legs, mild varicose veins, travel, pregnancy prevention. Class 2 (23-32mmHg): Moderate varicose veins, post-DVT, post-surgery, lymphedema management. Class 3 (34-46mmHg): Severe venous insufficiency, active ulcers, severe lymphedema. Always consult your healthcare provider for the appropriate compression class for your condition.
How long do compression stockings last?
Medical-grade compression stockings from VENOSAN typically last 4-6 months with daily wear when properly cared for. We recommend having 2 pairs to rotate daily, allowing each pair to rest and recover its elasticity. Replace when you notice reduced compression, visible wear, or when the stockings slide down more easily.
How do I put on compression stockings?
Turn the stocking inside out to the heel. Place your foot inside and pull the heel portion over your heel. Gradually unroll the stocking up your leg, smoothing out wrinkles as you go. Avoid pulling from the top — work in small sections. For easier application, consider using rubber gloves for grip or a donning aid device. Apply in the morning before swelling occurs.
